Sophie V. (Wajszczuk) Ward, 88, of Glen Rock, NJ passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009.  Sophie was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Harold (1975) and loving daughter Donna (1983).  Born and raised in Jersey City where she had an early career as a hairdresser, she moved to Glen Rock in 1961 and was a member of the Polish American Club of North Jersey, and the 1997 Director of the Miss Polonia contest.  A parishioner of St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock, she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.  A woman who enjoyed being around people, she truly loved spending time with family and friends.

Sophie is survived by her daughter Denise, son Damian, daughter-in-law Jo-Anne and grandchildren Victoria and Nicholas. She is also predeceased by her loving brothers, John and Charles Wajszczuk

 A funeral mass is planned for Saturday, June 13, 2009, 9:00 AM at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 905 South Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ.  Entombment will follow at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, NJ.  The family will receive relatives and friends Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Vander Plaat Colonial Home, Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sophie may be made to the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Municipal Building, Harding Plaza, Glen Rock, NJ 07452.
