Around Poland, first - visiting the Family "Nests"

Siedlce
Grandfather Piotr (059), the founder of our branch of the Family came here towards the end of the XIX century from the not too distant Trzebieszow - (www.wajszczuk.v.pl/gniazda
/english/trzebieszow.htm
). Here he worked and raised the family:(www.wajszczuk.v.pl/
english/drzewo/059piotr.htm
), whose members spread from here aroud Poland and around the world. Note: when talking in this and in the following paragraphs about "the grandfather, uncles etc.", I am referring to my Generation (III) on the Family Tree - Adam is one generation younger.

The first stop was in Siedlce - in the picture, at the dinner table at our cousin Anna Świderska (079). Anna is a granddaughter of uncle Edmund (075). > From left - Adam, Wanda, Barbara, Kitri (our daughter-in law from Australia, who joined us for the tour of Poland) and Carmen.

As above - daughters and granddaughters of Anna Świderska. From left - Agnieszka Iżewska (082) and her daughter Daria and (standing) Barbara Trzos (080) and her daughters Sara and Kaja, (unfortunately - the husbands were at work)!

Anna and her dog.

On the way to the Cemetery we "forced our way" through the abundant vegetation to see the old Family House. Here lived my Grandparents - Piotr (059) and Maria, my uncle (and Adam's grandfather) - Tadeusz (060) and his wife Janina, and my aunt - Maria Klimczykowa (095), who was the last Wajszczuk family member to reside in this house. Throughout the years, several area cousins also stayed here as "boarders", when attending schools in Siedlce. Unfortunately, the house is now abandoned after recent fire, which damaged the roof.

Drelów
My uncle - Fr. Karol Wajszczuk (074) was here in charge of the Roman-Catholic Parish for several years. He died in 1942 in the concentration camp in Dachau.

In the Parish Church - at the plaque commemorating Fr. Karol.

In the Parish House - at the painting commemorating martyrdom of the Unites from the Podlasie province in 1874. Fr. Karol was very instrumental in collecting the
historical evidence. (http://www.polbox.com/u/unici/)
